Low Impact Yoga Mats

Hello and welcome back.

Changing topic a little bit today as I am discussing yoga mats. I have recently started back on my yoga journey. Taking more time for myself and making sure I’m taking car of myself and my body. My posture is APALLING! Playing with the girls and sitting a lot has caused me to slouch a lot and I want to use yoga to help with my posture and help with my back pain. So off I went to find a yoga mat.

Now, when I think of yoga mats, I think of that weird squishy rubber ones that you get in the big box stores. Cheap, over produced and constantly being replaced and I just don’t want that. I want something resilient and reliable but also good for the planet, not at least less worse. Today I’m sharing the ones I OWN. But as always, I will have a wishlist at the bottom of this post for other options for you.

So BEHOLD! My Yoga Design Lab mats. I have two, I have a regular mat and one of their travel mat. The biggest different is how bulky they are when they are rolled up. But I’m getting ahead of myself. You may be wondering how these are low impact, so let me tell you! These mats are made from biodegradable natural tree rubber and are dyed with water based dyes for their colorful prints. This brand also makes stainless steel water bottles, so they’re just awesome. And a portion of each sale goes towards yoga classes and activities in the community which is amazing.

A big thing for me, is that these mats are  machine washable. This is important for me as Isla loves to use her pens/ markers on or around my mat. So if she colours it, it isn’t ruined. And that’s an amazing feeling. You may wonder why I have my mats out around a toddler, but She is very obsessed with them and will cry if she wants to play on it and can’t get it.

I will also add that their customer service team is awesome. I originally had another mat that was damaged from the distributor but they were so quick and understanding when helping to resolve the issue. Doesn’t have anything to do with being low impact but it is always nice to have a good customer service team.

The first thing I will say is that I know the price can be daunting. But my mum always taught me its better to pay a large amount once for a good quality item, rather than paying cheap amounts multiple times. Because even small amounts will add up. I would rather have a mat that I love that lasts for a long time, rather than throwing away a bunch of mats over time.

A few people have/ will ask so the mats I own are the Aqua Infinity Mat and the Geo Combo Mat. Both are on sale right now which is awesome so grab them when you can! I really do like these mats and I love the message they include with their low impact values.

Like I mentioned before, here is my list of other brands that have low impact yoga mats and accessories.
